Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
