In November 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly Donald Trump's chief strategist, visited the UK to deliver a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.
The speech was interrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Activists delayed my talk I doubt I can make the flight we are heading to heathrow".
Epstein replied: "There. Is a gulf air departing at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "You are an amazing helper".
These messages were published on this week alongside more than 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.
The disclosure by the Congressional committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's identity is redacted. The BBC managed to establish his identity by cross-referencing the timeline, events, and places referenced.
For instance, Epstein discusses chartering a plane from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and gave the speech at the Oxford Union on November 16.
Bannon, who faces no allegations of any misconduct, declined to comment on the request for comment.
Bannon served as Trump's closest advisers in the lead-up to the presidential election and in the early days of his presidency, but stepped down from the administration in August 2017.
He has acknowledged he was producing a film about Epstein prior to his passing and reportedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a live taping of his show earlier this year, he said: "We plan to publish the film, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - at the start of next year."
But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier occasionally seeming to act like a personal assistant.
A short time prior to the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "what's it like to have the highest-paid booking agent in history ".
Bannon expressed gratitude: "U r quite capable assistant", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Not Included".
Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in a separate text, Epstein told Bannon: "I will ensure you are taken care of."
The released communications also reveal Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in 2018.
Earlier on the day of his speech at the Oxford Union, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the EU exit issue this day with Nigel, Johnson and Mogg."
Then, in what appears to be a allusion to the UK prime minister, the embattled British leader at the period, he added: "The guys are attempting to move on. May soon…"
Epstein advised Bannon: "I think remaining as much as you can uk. Ideal- so people see the dedication of your follow-up."
Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa May survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how BUT the people here have little courage" and noted "Boris ; Michael Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - someone has to step up".
Theresa May was eventually removed in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in December 2018.
A spokesman for the political party informed media: "Farage has not been in a meeting with Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting took place.
The Congress will decide next week on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its files related to its probe into Epstein, who passed away in jail in that year.
Attention in Epstein's associations with influential individuals was renewed recently after the publication of more than 20,000 documents from his archives.
Some of those referenced Trump, who has consistently rejected any impropriety. The president was a acquaintance of Epstein's for a long time, but claims they fell out in the early 2000s, two years prior to Epstein was initially charged.
