“That was unfortunate. That was kind of an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, our fans. The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”

He further clarified that the gesture was completely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just put up the wrong digit,” he remarked. “It was inadvertently done. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”

This is not the initial instance an league proprietor has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Previous cases involve:

• Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was penalized $300K for throwing a drink at fans in January 2024.
